3: Naughty School Girl: The school girl costume is always a hit with the men and for a hen night or girls night out, they hit just the right note between sexy and trashy that naughty schoolboys love.

4: Spaceman/woman: For a more modern theme an astronaut costume is very popular and there are lots of space suit costumes available online, or make your own with a pair of white coveralls and some NASA patches.

5: Cavewoman: The cavewoman costume is one of my favourites as it combines feminine allure with a girl power undertone. My leather and fur mini-dress always gets me a lot of attention.

Vampires are pretty cool these days but who remembers that the first one was the medieval Count Dracula who had his kingdom in Transylvania? This is another reason to choose a Halloween medieval fancy dress costume. Bram Stoker’s novel was the first one to present a vampire and push into the limelight a new breed of villains. These characters have been constructed and reconstructed in many ways in popular culture culminating with today’s “The New Moon” movies and the “True Blood” TV show. So you have again the choice of getting a classic costume of a character or the modern, up to date one which will bring novelty while remaining traditional to the party.

Do not forget the classic “day” costumes too – Medieval Princesses, Princes, Kings, Queens, Valiant Knights or just plain commoners will do just as well, as not everyone has to play the villain.
