How To Create Your Own Bunny Costumes
Bunny costumes can be used for both Easter and Halloween. While professional costumes can be expensive, especially for adults, you will find that making your own costume is an easy process.
Many people begin the bunny costume using a gray set of sweats. Using sweats allows you to make a no sew costume. If you find a sweat shirt that has a hood and no zipper, your work is even easier.
For the bunny’s belly, you will need white or pink felt. The belly is cut in the shape of an egg and attached with fusible web. This material can turn the felt into an iron on just by following the package directions. Attach the large egg to the sweatshirt. Allow about one-forth of the egg to hang below the hem of the sweatshirt to extend the belly of the bunny.
Ears can also be made using the fusible web with felt and sweat material. Stiff ears are made using cardboard for a stiffener. The web will attach the fabric to the cardboard and help keep the ears stiff. Once completed, attach the ears to an inexpensive plastic hairband and cut slits to allow them to poke through the hood. You may also be able to find ears ready made at the Easter season. Floppy ears are simply fused together and attached to the hood.
A large white pompom makes a great bunny tail. Look for them at a craft store. If you cannot find one, try gluing several cotton balls together or make your own pompom using white yarn. You will find instructions for making you own pompom on the internet. You will want a three to four inch tail for the bunny.
Use face makeup to add whiskers to the persons face and a black nose. The best way to make costumes appear authentic is to have the right attitude and you will be judged to be one of the best bunny costumes at the party.
