The Eterna

People used to think that the Eterna were nothing but myths. Damn, were they ever wrong.

What are they? Well, they were the start of everything we are now. The first witches and wizards on earth. The story goes that they used to hide their civilization away from the humans, and that the magic they used was more powerful and wild than anything we see in modern day. Whatever it was they had, we lost it. At least, we thought we did.

You see, they're coming back, and in ways you might not like. It started a few years ago. Anima Eterna is more than just a school, or an army, or a fortress. Elisa Monelli somehow had the audacity to build it inside ancient ruins, the ones that the Eterna use to call home. No one knows exactly why all this is happening now, but I'm willing to guess it had something to do with our presence here. We're stirring things up.

The home of the Eterna lives again, and, in some ways, so do they.

It began with subtle things- whispers of ghosts, left over enchantments, and the tortured remains from the war that wiped them out thousands of years ago. Then it started accelerating. They gave us a message- those prone to cliché have called it a 'the prophecy.' Amongst other things, it named the people living within AE as the potential saviours of the world. No pressure, right?

That was when other people started getting interested, in both the school and the Eterna. Rumours started flying that a power great enough to win the war was locked away somewhere inside of the ruins. Maybe they're right. All that magic had to go somewhere. At any rate, the Death Eaters heard about the prophecy and tried to take AE for their own. We pushed them back, but not without a price.

The prophecy is publicly known now, but it didn't prepare any of us for what happened next. Wizards claiming to be Eterna reborn have started showing up, and they're rapidly changing everything we've ever taken for granted. I've had the displeasure of meeting one of them personally, and I think they're telling the truth. No one else I've ever heard of could do the things she can...and she can do them without breaking a sweat.

She calls herself Erishae, and, if there are others, she's the first to come forward. To start fucking with us. She's the one that sent the Death Eaters after AE. She's the one that awakened the elemental avatars. She's the one that nearly succeeded in wiping out Britain.

I don't know how the Eterna work, or if they are coming back for good, but I know that she's our enemy. I can only hope that, if AE really is the key to unlocking the Eterna's magic, it will help us stop them.

They're the big fish in our little pond.
