Wine Tasting – 5 Themes for Your Wine Tasting Party
Wine tasting parties are a perfect way for you to gather with friends and family and enjoy a few great glasses of wine together. However, many people take wine tasting too seriously. A great way to add a little spice to your wine tasting party is to make it a theme party. The themes can be goofy, and based around costumes, decorations and cheap wines. They can also be a little bit more serious and be based around a certain red wine varietal, white wine varietal, varietals from different regions of the same country, different types of packaging, etc. It can be sometimes difficult to come up with a list of many different themes. Lucky for you, I have made a list of five different themes that you can use for your next wine tasting party. Enjoy!
1. You can have a holiday themed wine tasting party. You can have a Christmas themed party where everybody dresses up like Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus. You can have your children drink sparkling grace juice and dress up like reindeer. You can also have a Halloween themed party. You will dress in your favorite costume and will consume wizard’s potion (red wine, white wine, or champagne).
2. Everyone can dress up as their favorite Disney character. Couples can dress up as Minnie and Mickey mouse. Try not to fight over who will dress up as Goofy. You don’t want any violence at your wine tasting party.
3. You can have a Chardonnay themed party. You can buy different Chardonnays at many different prices. Have someone pour out all the Chardonnays without telling your other wine tasting friends which is which. Try and see if you can tell the difference between the more expensive and the cheaper wines. This is a good way to avoid the snobbery that often comes with wine tastings.
4. Try different kinds of Argentine Malbec. Do like you did with the Chardonnay. Have someone pour out the glasses of Malbec and taste them all. Try and see if you can tell the difference between the more expensive Malbec and the cheap Malbec.
5. Have a white wine night. You can try many different kinds of whites such as Torrontes, Carbernet Blanc, Chardonnay, Chablis, and whatever else comes to your mind. You can have a contest to see who the real wine experts are. Pour out all the white wines without telling you guests which is which. Have them taste the wines and then write down what wine white varietal they think is in each glass.
