Wizard Skills and Talents

This section is a collection of a variety of different wizarding abilities and specialties that pop up from time to time in roleplay and characters. This is the listing of the official rules regarding each item, as well as a list of characters possessing said ability. These are all grouped into two catagories: Talents (something which is wizard is born with inherently, and cannot simply learn), and Skills (something which can be learned through hard work, but generally requires some amount of specialization). Some are a mixture of the two in varying degrees. Each ability's class will be listed beside its name.

Animagi (Skill)

-Fairly rare as it is a difficult and lengthy skill to learn.
-It is the ability to turn into one's animal form at will/without a wand.
-This animal form is not chosen by the person, and while it is sort of like a person's patronus it may or may not turn out to be the same animal.
-The difference between an animagus animal form and a regular wizard turned into an animal is that an animagus keeps their human mind while in that form.

Known Animagi: Blake Lorent, Daeva Ombre, Zita Hassan-Salvatore

Dragon Tamer (Skill)

-Fairly uncommon.
-Characterized by a special mental link between a human and a dragon.
-Is a part of the dragon training profession.
-Anyone with a dragon partner would have a connection like this.

Known Dragon Tamers: Daren Telem, Tobias Dalca

Elemental (Talent)

-Caused by a blast of ancient elemental magic that was released into the world.
-The elements of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire are governed by the four Elemental Avatars.
-All other elementals are gifted with one of the following: energy, flame, flora, geo, wind, lightning, ice, or aqua.
-Elemental powers are wandless.
-Temperamental/difficult to control.
-Potentially more powerful and tactile than normal magic.
-Can only be held/used by someone with the appropriate spirit to the element.
-Are highly governed by emotion.
-Are a type of ancient magic, originating directly from the Eterna.

Known Elementals: Catalina Ombiero(Air), Dominic Constantine(Earth), Josef Netri(Water), Morgan Donnelly(Fire), Anastasia Zheronika(Geo), Cyril Nimeras(Ice), Michi Kinmori(Wind), Razel Ahern(Flame), Sandra J. Robinson(Energy), Tatiana Ionescu(Energy).

Empath (Talent)

-Quite rare.
-The inherent ability to sense other people's emotions and feelings without the use of applied magic.
-An empath can instinctively sense a person's mood, whether they are in pain, etc. simple by being in close proximity to them.
-In some cases the empath may be forced to suffer through the target's emotion or pain in a way that feels first hand.
-In large groups of people an empath may begin to feel dizzy, sick, or overwhelmed if they had not learned to control their ability.

Known Empaths: Nahima Ramirez, Nimue de Alva.

Enchanter (Skill)

-Rare, as it is looked down upon.
-A specific area of magic dedicated to manipulating and controlling the thoughts and emotions of others.
-With enough skill, an enchanter can do this without the aid of a wand.
-Generally looked down on in society the same way use of the Imperius curse would be.

Known Enchanters: Erishae

Healer (Skill/Talent)

-Rare.
-Most people can learn basic healing spells, but to be truly proficient in the skill one must be born with a healer's talent.
-For example, a simply fractured bone or a skin laceration is a simple fix, but internal damage, complicated fractures, and other organ failures would require a trained healer to fix.
-Training at the healer's academy lasts for four to six years, including internship. This depends on the talent of the individual.
-Advanced healing spells sound like chants, usually listing more detailed paths and objectives for the magic to go through.
-Even with the aid of magical healing, a person suffering from severe injuries will require at least a few days in the hospital for their body to pick up the slack and stabilize.

Known Healers: Bartholomew Battista, Devi Sincero, Clio Telem, Finn Iverson, Josef Netri, Tatiana Ionescu(newbie)

Legilimens (Skill)

-Difficult to master, and is somewhat rare to learn.
-It is the ability to read thoughts and infiltrate the mind.
-A skilled Legilimens will be able to instinctively tell whether an unprotected person is lying to them.
-It takes a lot of practice and discipline to learn, but can be learnt in varying degrees. The better you are at it the better it will serve you.

Known Legilimens: Josef Netri, Lisa Allen(extreme newbie), Nahima Ramirez, The Heirs

Medium (Talent)

-Though a talent, this can only be received through special circumstances.
-The ability to be possessed by/communicate with ghosts.
-It occurs when a spirit (primarily the spirits of the Eterna in this case) forms a connection with a human so that they can communicate with the material world.
-Once this happens the bond between the two will endure, and the human becomes a medium.
-A medium may also become more sensitive to other types of spiritual phenomenon.

Known Mediums: Cosetta Ridgemont, Dominic Constantine, Renée LaFayé, and Tatiana Ionescu

Metamorphagus (Talent)

-Quite rare.
-The inherent ability to change one's appearance at will.
-A metamorphagus can not use their ability to become a non-humanoid creature, or anything that varies too greatly from the human appearance.
-In other words, looking like a vampire would be possible. Looking like a merfolk would not.

Known Metamorphagi: Tsuki Kinmori

Necromancer (Talent/Skill)

-Quite rare.
-Necromancy is frowned upon in society, because of the way it abuses the bodies of the dead.
-It’s not nice. It has some ritual cannibalism thrown into the equation and involves getting up close and personal with innards and body parts.
-It does not involved talking to ghosts.
-It basically consists of searching the bodies for their memories from when they were alive. This, of course, including their deepest secret and knowledge of any type. This is done through aforementioned corpse mutilating.
-Though performing necromancy on just skeletal remains is theoretically possible, you’d have to be a very good necromancer and extremely experienced in your field. The less of the corpse is left, the harder it gets to work with them.

Known Necromancers: Lucian Milosovici

Occlumens (Skill)

-Difficult to master, but still not extremely uncommon because of its extreme practical purposes.
-Just to be clear, it is the ability to mentally block mind reading and control attempts.
-It takes a lot of practice and discipline to learn, but can be learnt in varying degrees. The better you are at it the better it will serve you.
-Almost all members of the Order are taught this ability.

Known Occlumens: Catalina Ombiero, Cole Cooper, Dominic Constantine, Elisa Monelli, Josef Netri, Lisa Allen, Miika Tykkytainem, Morgan Donnelly, Renée LaFayé, The Heirs

Parselmouth (Talent)

-Quite rare.
-The inherent ability to speak with snakes.
-Generally follows a blood path, but may be found in more estranged circumstances.
-Young parselmouths may have to see a snake to speak in it, but more experienced ones can do it on call.
-Sounds like a series of low breaths and hisses.

Known Parselmouths: Cole Cooper, William Abernathy, The Heirs

Seer (Talent)

-Rare.
-The ability to see or predict the past or future.
-While anyone can learn divination, only a Seer can receive things like prophecies or random visions.
-It could also be said that most divination techniques are only really effective in the hands of someone with the Seer gift.

Known Seers: Cosetta Ridgemont, Julian Ridgemont.

Shaman (Skill)

-Rather uncommon.
-A type of wizard that specialized in nature orientated magic.
-Use staffs (which are essentially like a wands only larger- they still have a magical core and everything).
-Can use Wildcraft, a subtle kind of magic that can be used to appeal to a person or to persuade.
-Can summon a spirit guide, which is very close to a patronus only more material.
-Use herbs as material components to many of their spells.
-Specialize in magic that can be used to strengthen others.
-When initiated as a Shaman, a person takes on an alternate 'shaman name'.
-Shamans are an ostensibly spiritual group.

Known Shamans: Micah Ravenstorm

Mouths (Talent)

-Quite rare.
-In the way that Parselmouths can speak to snakes, these would be the inherent ability to speak to other animal groups.
-These groups would be divided into things such as birds, canines, felines, etc.
-Rules would be the same as they are for Parselmouths, only applying to a different animal class.

Known Mouth Speakers: None.

Wandless Magic User (Skill)

-Rare, as it is very difficult to learn.
-Simply, wandless magic occurs when a wizard has trained hard enough or long enough to control magic without the use of a wand.
-The wandless magic used is usually much more specific/limited than what they could do with a wand.
-It is usually a characteristic of very powerful wizards. (IE. Dumbledore and Voldemort.)

Known Wandless Magic Users: Miika Tykkytainem, Anubis (semi-efficient), The Heirs
