The Timeline

There is some history before and after the start of roleplay in Anima Eterna that needs to be covered. Here lies a history account of the events leading up to the creation of the academy, as well as the ones occurring in the first year of schooling. It would be wise to read this if you are new to the site, as it should fill you in on the major events that have already occurred. Credit goes to the Harry Potter Lexicon for many of these dates.

2017 AD: Anima Eterna is opened as a new Italian school for wizards with Elisa Monelli as Headmistress, as a way to defend against the new dark forces and train youth to fight them.

Year One, 2017-2018

OOC Time Period: November 2005 to June 2006.
IC Time Period: September 2017 to June 2018.

In a Nutshell: Anima Eterna opens as a new wizarding school in Italy, run by the Headmistress Elisa Monelli. Trezian Heartbroom causes problems in the first semester then leaves after an argument. Several students and professors are mysteriously murdered, and the culprits are never discovered. The Ministry tries to shut the school down, and the Minister keeps a close eye on the school. The attention of His Heirs, the new leaders of the Death Eater’s that took charge in Voldemort’s stead, focus in on the school, and launch a large scale attack during the end of year grad party.

Overview: The first semester of Anima Eterna was a comparatively peaceful one. New professors and students alike tried to settle into their new surroundings, and Elisa herself struggled to play the role Headmistress to the best of her ability. The attendance was still low, but classes went on with the very few students. Friendships were made, romances kindled, and trouble brewed.

One of the first bits of strife came from one Trezian Heartbroom, the first Potions Master at the new Italian school. Though Elisa was quite unaware, he was a rather fanatical Death Eater and harassed both the students and the other staff. He caused problems all over the school, but eventually took his leave after an argument in an important staff meeting. Unfortunately, the staff meeting had been about the first death of a student in the school; something that one of his Death Eater grunts was responsible for.

So, while the actual culprit vanished into the night, AE was left to deal with the Ministry, and a Minister of Magic name David Fairchild who was very dubious of the staff’s ability to keep things in order. He began staying at the school for random periods of time to try to root out the problem, and even set up an office for himself. Despite his youth, he didn’t get along well with the faculty and generally wished to shut the academy down.

Regardless of this, the next semester started and many new students arrived. Unfortunately, a few caused more trouble than they were worth. There were at least two events of blackmailing, one involving many death threats, and the other leading up to the rape of a student. Unfortunately, the staff remained blissfully unaware of the dark activities of the school’s own occupants, and the antagonists were never persecuted for their crimes.

Yet another body of a student was found, and even more pressure was put on the staff by the Ministry. It seemed bad then, but things got progressively worse as Kyna Benton, the school’s own Muggle Studies professor was murdered. Later in the year, the newer Potions Master Lou Hannishan suffered a similar fate. While all these murders were caused by Death Eaters or pureblood extremists, the culprits were never found, and more and more unsolved crimes were added to Anima Eterna’s record.

Now, because of all this, the school didn’t have the most smashing of reputations. To many it would seem like a dark wizard magnet, but while there were many causalities, under the circumstances AE had been doing okay for itself. It was still open, after all, and that was something that the staff and students alike could take heart in. In fact, the school had become a home for many of the attendants, and there was a lot of passion behind protecting it.

This was about the time that His Heirs themselves entered onto the scene. The siblings and the official Heirs of Voldemort, they had been lurking in the shadows of the years, slowly establishing themselves as the new reigning Dark Lords. They met up with the faculty of AE one night, after drawing them into the forest by shooting up the Dark Mark into the sky. The encounter was short lived, but delivered one very clear message.

The Heirs were a force to be reckoned with and they were out to get Anima Eterna.

While this was obviously disheartening, the academy ploughed onward to their first graduation ceremony. All involved were very proud, as this marked the first full year of schooling, and the place had yet to be destroyed. Many grads had decided to come back the next year for further education, and things were looking surprisingly bright. Of course, as usual, this is where things went to hell.

At the grad party of 2018, His Heirs and a horde of Death Eaters unexpectedly attacked, trapping many of the students in a giant cage fight while some were left on the outside. The only way in or out was by apparation, but unfortunately only the older students were capable of this feat. Not the mention that there was so much carnage, fire, and chaos that no one could seem to find their loved ones, and many were reluctant to leave despite the danger.

In the end there were three student deaths and many serious injuries, including two Heads of House and bother the Head Boy and Girl. Needless to say, even though the school managed to survive the attack, moral was at an all time low afterwards. But none the less, Anima Eterna persevered, and finished their first year, moving into the summer season.

Just what was to come, no one knew, but it seemed that whatever it was they had best get their relaxation while they could; the future was certainly not looking bright.

Major Characters: The new staff, such as Elisa Monelli, Raeka Zelenko, Daren Telem, and Trezian Heartbroom before he vanished. Then there were students like Razel Ahern, Mathias Miller, Lisa Allen, Dominic Constantine, Kajetan Sabelli, Allison Carmichael and Renée LaFayé. And, of course, His Heirs. Many other students participated heavily, but these were the ones that did more to effect the school as a whole.

Notes: AE’s first year, we are all very proud to see it completed. There was no site wide plot, per se, but everyone’s mini-plots and character relationships just seemed to meld into each other into one, big, difficult to explain story; uniting in the end of year attack. It is by no means over, however, and still has plenty room to grow over the coming summer term and beyond…

Summer of 2018

OOC Time Period: June 2006 to August 2006.
IC Time Period: July 2018 to August 2018.

In a Nutshell: The school starts to pick up the pieces after the Grad party, dealing with the negative and positive publicity alike. A few weeks into the summer, six occupants of Anima Eterna are kidnapped and taken to the Subacquei to be tortured, and are eventually returned, with no reason given for their capture. The media runs wild again, and mental scarring aside, things return to the status quo.

Overview: While Anima Eterna was already turning heads by the fact that it had survived a direct attack by the Heirs themselves, another tragedy took place a few weeks into the summer holiday. Many students had chosen to remain at the school for the summer as opposed to going home, and it seemed like things were bright on the horizon for once. Friends hung out in the pleasant Italian summer, and for a time things were at a relative peace.

That was until the kidnapping, which was simply the capture of six of the occupants of AE by Death Eaters. They disappeared suddenly, and without warning. Those taken were Razel Ahern, Todd Draumur, Janelle Tristanson, Allison Carmichael, Michi Kinmori, and the professor and head of Spirito house, Raeka Zelenko. After their absences were discovered, the school was wrought with panic. Friends and family of those that had vanished mourned.

While everyone but the Death Eaters were searching for answers, Elisa Monelli and the Minister of Magic David Fairchild were forced to work together, despite their previous disagreements. Plans were made, and in the end the staff were prepared to attempt an all out assault on the Death Eaters in the form of a rescue mission. Sadly, they never even got a chance to carry these plans out.

Before they could march off to battle, all six of the kidnapped appeared inexplicably on one of the beaches of Catania; broken, bleeding, and abused, but very much alive. Rushed back to the school, it was discovered that the wounds implied that they had all been through brutal torture for the last week, but after waking, none of them had any idea why. It seemed that the only thing in common was that they were all of impure blood.

Questions were asked, but no answers were given, and eventually it was written off and fear tactics, the Heirs flaunting their ability to take anyone whenever they wanted. While those that had been captured tried to readapt to living, Elisa and the staff of Anima Eterna were driven to upgrade the security on the school even further, no longer allowing apparating or dissapparating on the premises.

While all this was occurring, another side to the battle began to rise out of the darkness. Though still completely unrecognized by wizarding society, an underground group of revolutionaries called the Order began to set a stronger foot hold in the Italian Academy. Their side isn’t exactly clear, though it’s safe to say that it hardly aligns with either the Ministry or the Death Eaters.

By the end of the summer most things seemed to have settled down back to normal, but that wasn’t necessarily a good thing. And with even more sides to the battle and more sickening tactic appearing on the scene, it was iffy to say that things would be easy.

Major Characters: Elisa Monelli, David Fairchild, Raeka Zelenko, Razel Ahern, Todd Draumur, Janelle Tristanson, Allison Carmichael, and Michi Kinmori.

Notes: Everyone was really busy during the summer, but we managed to turn out some good threads and stories anyway. There was a lot of side stories and individual character plots that were explored, but not a whole lot for the school as a whole. Amusing, though.

Year Two, 2018-2019

OOC Time Period: September 2006 to June 2007.
IC Time Period: September 2018 to June 2019.

In a Nutshell: Beauxbatons is destroyed by the Death Eaters. The spirits of the ancient Eterna possess the bodies of five students and deliver a prophecy to Elisa Monelli, which was made back in the days that they lived. They believe it applies to the fate of the modern Anima Eterna. Elisa keeps the occurrence a secret. His Heir the Second turns out to be the father of Lisa Allen and Renée LaFayé, and tries and fails to mould them into his future heirs. A woman named Erishae appears who has a knowledge of the prophecy, and convinces the Heirs to attack the school by telling them that it contains a power that will let them win the way if they attain it.

Overview: Anima Eterna's second year started wearily, with people still recovering from attack on the graduation party and the summer kidnappings. Things seemed to have calmed down, but the future wasn't looking bright. The kidnappings had been meant to lower morale- to scare people. They had worked.

The first couple months consisted of nothing more than people settling back into the school routine. People slowly began to relax until November, when disaster struck again, though this time in a place far away from AE itself.

Towards the end of the month, Beauxbatons was brutally destroyed by the Heirs and their Death Eater army, killing many of its students. Survivors were forced to move elsewhere for schooling, spreading a ripple of terror throughout wizarding society. Beauxbaton refugees flooded into Anima Eterna, seeking safety in one of the few places that had survived an attack from the Heirs.

Winter held more surprises. Only a couple weeks after the attack on Beauxbatons, strange forces began to stir within Anima Eterna, the likes of which modern wizard had never seen before. Called to the Chambers of Old by some strange impulse, five students were possessed by spirits of the ancient Eterna, the first race of wizards that had lived within the school walls thousands of year prior.

Dominic Constantine, Renée LaFayé, Tatiana Ionescu, Madison Miller, and Cosetta Ridgemont were made the hosts of these spirits, who quickly set about their mission. This was to deliver a prophecy to the leader of the school, one that had been delivered back in the days in which the Eterna had lived. They sought out Elisa Monelli in the bodies of her students.

Coming across her in her office, they proceeded to deliver their message, implanting the words within the Headmistress' mind so that she would not forget them. The spirits said that they believed the prophecy applied to modern day Anima Eterna, and that the schools role in the war could effect the entire future of wizard kind. With that they departed, leaving Elisa the sole witness to the events, their hosts remembering nothing of the occurrence.

Elisa kept the prophecy to herself (click hear to see it word for word), fearing that it may bring about unnecessary panic. She wanted to figure it out herself before telling the masses, entrusting only Raeka Zelenko with the secret. Months passed and the prophecy remained hidden.

Meanwhile, the Heirs were on the move again, though in a different fashion from before. Their interests was on the future generations, and His Heir the Second stepped forwards, revealing to Lisa Allen and Renée LaFayé that he was their father and that he wished for them to train with him to become the new Heirs when he and his siblings moved on.

Renée immediately turned down his proposition, disgusted by the fact that his identity had been hidden from her, and quit the Death Eaters. Lisa, however, reacted differently. Her affection for her father caused her to begin to sympathize with the Death Eater cause, and over a period of weeks she began her training with him and her aunt, His Heir the Third.

Her Death Eater was relatively short lived. After making an attempt on Renée's life (only to be thwarted by the woman's boyfriend, Dominic Constantine) Lisa encountered Jacques de Lioncourt, the man that had raped her a year earlier. She killed him in the conflict to follow, scaring herself back into sense. She left the Death Eaters without hesitation, leaving the Second without usable Heirs.

On another front, a mysterious woman named Erishae appeared seemingly from nowhere, approaching the Heirs with a very deadly proposition. Though Elisa had told no one but Raeka about the prophecy, somehow she had complete knowledge of it. She shared it with the Heirs, telling them that it meant that Anima Eterna contained a great power that would let them win the war if they attained it.

Enticed by this possibility of power, the Heirs launched a full fledged attack against Anima Eterna, intent on killing everyone inside and conquering the building so that Erishae could help them extract the power within. The initial wave of attack killed many students, but in the face of such horrors, Anima Eterna fought back. The battle lasted nearly two hours, and in the end the Death Eaters were forced to retreat when Ministry back up finally arrived.

A fifth of the school population have been killed in the attack, coming to sixty seven deaths comprised of both students and staff. The building was highly damaged by the attack, taking weeks to fully repair. People could do little more than mourn the dead. Many were angry, some were broken, others were afraid. A number a students were taken out of the school's care by their parents, fearing for the children's well being.

AE had survived the same force that had destroyed Beauxbatons, but at what cost?

Notes: Second year, whoo! In this year we started the first of what will hopefully be a long series of plot events related to the Eterna, as well as kicking the new war up a notch. Things like the Heirs and organizations like the Order took a much more prominent stance in site activities, and there was plenty of character development all around. The attack on the school went off awesomely as well. All in all a successful year.
